Marisa Friedrich

Marisa Friedrich is Senior Counsel at Chaves Perlowitz Luftig LLP and concentrates her practice on resolving Federal and New York State tax controversies, which include IRS and NYS tax collections, residency/domicile matters, sales tax audits, and penalty abatements. Marisa has extensive experience with residency and change of domicile matters, handling active audits as well as providing guidance to plan for these situations. Marisa speaks often on IRS and NYS tax issues for various professional groups on topics including IRS and New York State Tax Collections, New York State Residency, and much more. Marisa has also published various articles for qualified publications regarding IRS and New York State tax law.

Marisa earned her Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a minor in Accounting from Hofstra University. Prior to joining Chaves Perlowitz Luftig LLP, Marisa was the Senior Managing Attorney at a boutique tax controversy law firm for over 15 years.

Marisa is admitted to the New York State bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. Marisa was also named among “Outstanding Women in Law” by the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
